Yeah, I know. Variety broke this yesterday and everyone and their dog has commented. But everyone and their dog isn't The Basement. So here we go.
Word has it Robert Downey Jr. will appear in Captain American 3, not as a fellow Avenger but as the villain -- in a sense -- as the Superhero Registration Act makes its way into the Marvel cinematic universe.
That's right, the same Superhero Registration Act that tore the Marvel Comics universe apart during the Civil War storyline from a few year back. Apparently this will set the course for Marvel movies to come, including The Avengers 3 and others.
Me likey. A lot. Civil War was a decent series that did something I'd waited years to see -- have the government step in and try to regulate super heroes. Because that would obviously happen if super heroes were real. This could be an amazing thing to watch over the course of several movies. If any studio can pull something like this off, it's Marvel. The crossover potential is amazing.
Comic book movies are getting old fast. This guarantees they will stay interesting for a while longer.
Captain America 3 hits theatres May 6, 2016. The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.
