Hey there, folks! Mike S popping in again with some more movie goodness!
You're probably looking at the photo above, and thinking that there's a new big budget "Nightmare on Elm Street" soon to hit theatres, right?
Well, you'd be partially correct. The above picture IS from a "Nightmare on Elm Street" project in the works- but it's not being done on a big budget... or by one of the big Hollywood studios.
No, this particular movie- titled "Son of a Hundred Maniacs" is a prequel being made by Director Andrew Daniels- a fan of the franchise, and was inspired to make his own installment in the saga. That's right, "Son of a Hundred Maniacs" is a FAN made movie.
The fact that it's "fan made" is one of the complaints that have been tossed about in regards to this project. The way I see it is that all film makers are movie fans that were inspired to make their own movie... so most movies can be considered fan made.
Besides... if "Fifty Shades of Grey"- which started life as a "Twilight" fan fiction, could become a best selling series with a movie adaptation in the works... then why shouldn't this film be successful, right?
To be perfectly honest, the trailer below makes me WANT to see this movie. After the disappointment I felt watching the "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot, I really would like to see a new movie in the franchise that captures the spirit and chills of the first movie.
